SUI TAXI · EAST COAST OKINAWA

Kahobanta To the Cliff That Calls Happiness.

Uruma Scenic Viewpoint | Emerald Sea | East Coast

From the "Lucky Cliff," Gaze Upon an Ocean Panorama.

Kahobanta (Kafu Banta) is a spectacular viewpoint located in Yonashiro, Uruma. "Kafu" means "happiness" or "good fortune" in the Okinawan language, and "Banta" means "cliff-top viewpoint." From this aptly named "Cliff of Happiness," you can enjoy stunning views of the sea where emerald green and cobalt blue merge together, along with a beautiful panorama stretching to the endless horizon. Among Okinawa's many scenic spots, Kahobanta is a photogenic hidden gem that has been rapidly gaining attention on social media and in the press in recent years.

Kahobanta is located within the grounds of the "Nuchimasu Resort" (a facility of Nuchimasu, famous for salt production and sales), and admission to the facility is free. Nuchimasu is an Okinawan natural salt brand certified by the Guinness World Records as "the salt with the most minerals in the world," and the site also features a factory tour (free) and a direct sales shop. A gentle walking path leads to the viewpoint, winding through a garden lush with tropical plants.

Within a 10-15 minute drive from Kahobanta, you will find the World Heritage Site "Katsuren Castle Ruins," the spectacular scenic drive route "Kaichu-doro" crossing the Pacific, and "Hamahiga Island," an island steeped in mythology, among other scattered attractions. The east coast area of Uruma is a compact sightseeing zone where Okinawa's scenic beauty, history, and nature are all condensed together. Access from Naha is convenient at approximately 40-50 minutes via the expressway. The area is still relatively uncrowded, allowing you to enjoy Okinawa's stunning views in a peaceful atmosphere.

Highlights Around Kahobanta

At the Nuchimasu facility where Kahobanta is located, you can enjoy sightseeing and shopping simultaneously—factory tours, salt soft-serve ice cream, and salt product purchases. Along the walking path to the viewpoint, there is also a mist experience area called "Wind Spa," where the unique sensation of feeling ocean breeze and fine seawater mist on your entire body is popular. The entire facility is surrounded by tropical plants with a resort atmosphere, and you can leisurely spend 2-3 hours here.

Kaichu-doro is a road approximately 4.7 km in total length connecting the Okinawa mainland in Uruma with islands such as Miyagi Island and Ikei Island. It is a spectacular scenic drive route with ocean stretching out on both sides of the road, and on clear days the color of the sea is breathtakingly beautiful. The "East Coast Course (4-5 hours)" combining Kahobanta, Katsuren Castle Ruins, and Kaichu-doro is a hidden gem course that SUI TAXI particularly recommends. With few tourists, you can leisurely experience the original natural beauty of Okinawa.

Kahobanta by Taxi

From Naha to Kahobanta is approximately 40-50 minutes via the expressway. The "East Coast Course (4-5 hours)" from ¥24,800, including Katsuren Castle Ruins and Kaichu-doro, is popular. It is also possible to combine it with a trip north toward Churaumi Aquarium. SUI TAXI actively recommends the east coast course as a hidden gem route with less congestion.

Kahobanta has free admission and free parking, making it an attraction you can enjoy without additional access costs. Including salt product souvenir shopping and the factory tour, plan for a stay of approximately 1.5-2 hours. The driver will wait in the facility parking lot, so please take your time and enjoy at your leisure.

Combine with the Nuchimasu Factory Tour: Kahobanta is located within the Nuchimasu facility. In addition to the viewpoint, enjoy the free factory tour, salt soft-serve ice cream, and mineral salt product shopping. The salt soft-serve ice cream has an exquisite balance of sweetness and saltiness—a unique treat available only in Okinawa.
