About Naha Port Second Cruise Berth (Shinko Wharf / Asahi Shinko)
The Naha Port Second Cruise Berth — also called Shinko Wharf, Shinko Berth, 2nd Berth, Asahi Shinko, or in Japanese 那覇港第二クルーズバース / 新港ふ頭 / 安謝新港 — is the newer berth at Naha Port, built to accommodate very large cruise ships up to 160,000 GT. An increasing number of international cruise lines call here.
This is where the largest ships tie up. Spectrum of the Seas (Royal Caribbean International) calls here repeatedly through the winter season, and Celebrity Millennium (Celebrity Cruises) is scheduled here as well. It is a working commercial wharf with few shops and a limited number of regular taxis, so it is worth arranging your cruise port pickup before you sail. Book a private taxi from Naha Port in advance and your driver is waiting at the reserved-taxi pickup area when you come off the ship.
It sits a little further from the city center than the Wakasa terminal, but with a private Alphard that extra distance disappears. Your driver meets you at the reserved-taxi pickup area and can head directly to Kokusai-dori, Churaumi Aquarium, or anywhere else you would like to explore.
Where we meet you
The Second Cruise Berth works differently from Naha Cruise Terminal (Wakasa Berth). It can be a long walk from the ship to the pick-up point, and the route changes with the day's arrangements.
Follow the signs marked 予約タクシー乗り場 (pre-booked taxi stand). It is often set up near the ordinary taxi rank, though the exact spot varies from day to day.
We wait with a name board, and we also send you the vehicle's number plate in advance. On the day, look for the car by its number plate.
Driver's Notes
Completely different from Wakasa. It can be a long walk from the ship to the stand, and it depends on how the berth is run that day.
The pre-booked stand should be next to the general rank, but that is not certain. The 予約タクシー乗り場 sign is put out every time.
I wait with a name board and the guest also has the number plate in advance, so they find the car. It is not the Wakasa arrangement of meeting in a waiting area and walking them over.
