CAVE OKINAWA Experience the Mystery of Tens of Thousands of Years.
Uruma City Stalactite Cave | Mysterious Underground Exploration | Nature Experience
Into the Underground Palace, An Exploration Across Time.
"CAVE OKINAWA," sleeping deep beneath Uruma City, is a mysterious stalactite cave created by nature over tens of thousands of years. The moment you step away from the noise above ground and enter the cool cave, you are left speechless by the fantastical world that unfolds before you. Countless stalactites hang from the ceiling, while stalagmites continue their slow growth from the floor. The forms born from each accumulating drop represent the pinnacle of nature's sculptural beauty. The radiance of stalactites illuminated by lighting is truly worthy of the name "underground palace."
Exploration of CAVE OKINAWA is conducted as a facility-led cave visit. On-site staff explain the mechanism of stalactite cave formation, Okinawa's geology, and the creatures inhabiting the cave. The structure is designed for safety and enjoyment from children to adults, and since the temperature inside the cave is kept constant year-round, it is a comfortable experience—cool in summer and warm in winter. It has established itself as a new standard sightseeing spot in central Okinawa, offering a stalactite cave experience second in scale only to the Gyokusendo cave at Okinawa World.
From central Naha to CAVE OKINAWA is about 45 minutes via the Okinawa Expressway. Uruma City is located on Okinawa's east coast and offers a quieter, more natural side of the island. Travel comfortably in SUI TAXI's Alphard, then take your time after arriving to enjoy the mysteries of the underground. After the exploration, central courses combining nearby Katsuren Castle Ruins, Kaichu-doro, and other Uruma City scenic spots are also recommended.

Highlights of CAVE OKINAWA
The interplay of stalactites and stalagmites throughout the cave changes its appearance depending on viewing angle and lighting, with new discoveries on every visit. Particularly breathtaking is the area called the "Grand Hall," a vast space where you involuntarily hold your breath at the height of the ceiling and the number of stalactites spreading to either side. There are also places in the cave where underground water flows, with clear water making the stalactites shine even more beautifully. The exploration route is barrier-free with few steps, allowing people of a wide range of ages to participate safely.
The cave has its own ecosystem, inhabited by bats and cave-dwelling crustaceans and other creatures not seen above ground. Learning about these creatures' lives through on-site explanations stimulates intellectual curiosity beyond mere sightseeing. Duration is approximately 60–90 minutes. After the tour, you can rest at the café and gift shop in the facility. The blend of the cave's natural cool air and the excitement of exploration is sure to become an unforgettable highlight of your Okinawa trip.
