The 3 must-see spots of Kouri Island
Heart Rock (Tinu Beach) is a heart-shaped rock that nature has carved out over many years on the northwest coast of the island. The combination with the blue sea seen through the gap in the rock makes it popular as a photo spot. It is just a few minutes' walk from the parking area, but you have to walk over rocky ground, so please come in comfortable shoes.
Kouri Ocean Tower is an observation tower built on the high ground of the island, with a 360-degree panoramic view that takes in Kouri Bridge, the Motobu Peninsula and the direction of Nakijin Castle. There is also a shell collection on display inside the tower. Kouri Beach, just after crossing the bridge, is a white-sand beach with very clear water, and many people enjoy snorkelling there in summer.

Getting to Kouri Island by taxi
A Naha–Kouri Island round trip (8-hour course) starts from approximately ¥56,000 (tax included, expressway tolls separate). The "Northern Full Course (8 hours)" combined with Churaumi Aquarium starts from approximately ¥56,000. Charter fares are time-based at ¥7,000 per hour (¥3,500 per additional 30 minutes booked in advance). Extensions made after departure are ¥4,200 per 30 minutes. Facility fees, expressway tolls and parking are charged at cost. For charters of 6 hours or more we take a 30% deposit when you book, and the balance is paid on the day. Minimum booking times depend on where you start: from 3 hours in the south and central area, 4 hours in Onna Village and 6 hours in the north, and 8 hours for trips that cross between the south and the north. Where a long transfer is involved, the transfer fare for that stretch is the floor for the price.

Can we visit Kouri Island and Churaumi Aquarium together?
On an 8-hour charter, covering both in one day is the usual arrangement. The aquarium is about 20 minutes from Kouri Island. Kouri in the morning and the aquarium in the afternoon means you drive home as the light softens over the sea. We can adjust how long you spend at each.
Do we drive across Kouri Bridge, and can we take photographs?
You cross the 1,960-metre bridge by car. Stopping on the bridge itself is not allowed, so photographs are taken from the parking area at the far end or from the high ground on the island. Your driver will show you where you can pull in.
Will the taxi wait while we look around the island?
Yes. Waiting time is included in the charter fare. The lane leading to Heart Rock is narrow and parking is limited, so not having to hunt for a space is one of the real advantages of a charter.
Can we go straight to Kouri Island from Naha Airport?
Yes. We meet you in the arrivals hall with a name board and head north from there. Kouri Island is about 1 hour 40 minutes from the airport via the expressway. It is a common choice for guests who want to start sightseeing on their arrival day.
How many hours of charter do I need?
Kouri Island is about 1 hour 40 minutes each way from central Naha, so roughly 3.5 hours of driving. Adding time to walk the island and stop for a meal brings it to about 8 hours. Churaumi Aquarium and Nakijin Castle fit inside the same 8 hours. Charters starting in northern Okinawa begin at 6 hours.
