Manzamo To the Breathtaking View of Cliffs and Sea.
Onna Village Scenic Spot | Rock Formations | Sunset Spot
Praised by a Ryukyu King, A Vista That Captivates All.
Manzamo is one of Okinawa's most celebrated scenic spots, located in Onna Village. Its name means "a field (grassland) where ten thousand people can sit," and legend has it that Ryukyu King Sho Kei praised it as "a prairie worthy of seating ten thousand." The elephant trunk-shaped rock formation juts out from the dramatic cliff face, with emerald green sea stretching beyond, and on clear days you can see all the way to the horizon.
The tourism facility "Manzamo Nature Promenade," renovated in 2020, features a maintained walking path along the cliffs that allows visitors to enjoy the rock formations and sea from various angles. The promenade extends approximately 1 km and is easy to walk, allowing you to fully appreciate the magnificent natural beauty from well-maintained pathways. About 1 hour from central Naha by car, it is a classic central Okinawa sightseeing spot.
It is also ideal for a "quick outing" for those staying at resort hotels in Onna Village. In addition to hotel transfers, the central course combining a charter plan from Naha with American Village is especially popular. Visiting around sunset, you can enjoy the fantastical scenery created by the sunset and rock formations together.

Manzamo Highlights & Key Points
The main attraction of Manzamo is the cliff jutting out into the sea and the oddly shaped "Elephant Trunk Rock." Carved by waves and wind over many years, the rock takes the shape of a giant elephant dipping its trunk into the sea, and many visitors are moved by this work of natural art. The height of the cliff viewed from the rock's tip and the contrast with the cobalt blue sea below are overwhelming.
Also renowned as a sunset spot, Manzamo's west-facing cliffs offer stunning views of the sea and rock formations bathed in the setting sun when visited at dusk (around 4-6 PM). Onna Village is lined with premium resort hotels, and many traveling guests stop by to enjoy the sunset. Nearby you will also find marine activity spots such as Maeda Cape (snorkeling) and the Blue Cave.

Manzamo by Taxi
The estimated fare for a round-trip charter from Naha to Manzamo (3 hours) starts from ¥18,600 (tax included, expressway tolls separate). The "Central Course (5 hours)" combined with American Village starts from approximately ¥31,000. Transfers from Onna Village resort hotels are also available, and the course visiting from your hotel to Manzamo and then American Village is also popular.
Since the facility's renovation, a paid parking lot has been established, but it gets crowded during peak seasons. With a charter taxi, the driver waits in the parking lot, so guests can focus entirely on sightseeing at their leisure.
— Dusk Is Recommended: Manzamo's west-facing cliffs mean a visit at dusk (around 4-6 PM) lets you enjoy the stunning views of the sea and rock formations bathed in sunset light.
