Chinen Cape To the Breathtaking View of the Island of Gods.
Nanjo City Scenic Spot | Kudaka Island View | Southern Okinawa
A Panoramic View of Cobalt Blue Seas and the Island of Gods.
Chinen Cape is a scenic headland located in Nanjo City in southern Okinawa. From Chinen Cape Park, situated at the tip of the Chinen Peninsula, a stunning 360-degree panorama unfolds with beautiful seas blending cobalt blue and emerald green. On clear days, you can see Kudaka Island -- known as the "Island of Gods" -- directly ahead. Standing at the tip of the cape, the vast panorama of ocean and sky below takes your breath away. As one of the premier scenic spots in southern Okinawa, it is deeply beloved by both locals and tourists alike.
Chinen Cape Park offers free admission with a parking lot. The park features grassy areas with walking paths, allowing visitors to enjoy views of the sea and islands from various angles as they walk along the cape's edge. Early morning is especially recommended when the air is crisp and visibility is excellent. Visiting at sunrise creates a magical scene as the sea and silhouette of Kudaka Island are bathed in orange light.
Just near Chinen Cape is Seifa Utaki, the most sacred site of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Okinawa World (Gyokusendo Cave) is also located about 10 minutes by car, making this an ideal base for efficiently exploring the major spots of southern Okinawa in a single-day "Southern Course." Take in the authentic nature and history of Okinawa amid the gentle pace of life unique to Nanjo City.

Highlights Around Chinen Cape
From the observation point at Chinen Cape Park, you can see not only Kudaka Island but also the entire coastline of southern Okinawa. The ocean color varies depending on the angle and depth, and under good conditions, you can compare different shades of blue from the same spot -- a rare experience even in Okinawa. At dusk, the sky turns orange and purple, creating a magical sunset.
About 5 minutes by car is Seifa Utaki, a sacred site where you can view Kudaka Island through a gap between massive rocks called Sangui. Visiting both together with Chinen Cape allows you to experience both secular natural beauty and the spiritual culture of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Nearby attractions include Nirai Kanai Bridge (a scenic S-curve bridge) and Hyakuna Beach, among other highlights unique to Nanjo City.

Getting to Chinen Cape by Taxi
Chinen Cape is approximately 40-50 minutes by car from central Naha. The "Southern Course (5-6 hours)" from 31,000 yen, combining Seifa Utaki and Okinawa World, is especially popular. The route via Nirai Kanai Bridge offers stunning views from the S-curve bridge as well. SUI TAXI adjusts routes to match your preferences, so we can flexibly accommodate additional requests like "I'd like to stop here too."
Chinen Cape Park offers free admission and free parking, making taxi access the most efficient option. Aim for early morning (arriving 8-9 AM) to avoid crowds and enjoy the sunrise and Kudaka Island views in solitude. SUI TAXI easily accommodates early morning departures from Naha.
— We recommend the Nirai Kanai Bridge route: There are several routes to Chinen Cape, but the one via Nirai Kanai Bridge is especially recommended. The moment the view suddenly opens up on the S-curve bridge to reveal the vast ocean is one of Okinawa's premier driving experiences. SUI TAXI uses this route by default.
