Bise Fukugi Tree Road A Quiet Walk Through the Green Corridor.
Motobu Town | 20,000 Fukugi Trees | Next to Churaumi Aquarium
20,000 Fukugi Trees Create Okinawa's Original Landscape.
The Bise Fukugi Tree-Lined Road is a green tunnel created by approximately 20,000 fukugi (garcinia) trees spread throughout the Bise village in Motobu Town, Okinawa. Having served as windbreak trees protecting the village for hundreds of years, some of these trees are over 300 years old, and the natural corridor formed by their trunks and branches crossing overhead is beloved as "Okinawa's original landscape." The quiet tree-lined road with dappled sunlight filtering through is a healing space away from the bustle.
The Fukugi Tree Road is conveniently located just about a 5-minute walk from Churaumi Aquarium, yet relatively few tourists visit, making it a hidden gem where you can savor Okinawa's authentic tranquility. Beyond the tree-lined road lies Bise Cape Beach, with its highly transparent emerald-green sea and the silhouette of Ie Island before you. If you visit in combination with the aquarium, you can enjoy a luxurious time experiencing both the sea and greenery of Okinawa at once.
A stroll takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Renting a bicycle (approx. ¥300) to tour the tree-lined road is also popular. Cafes and light food shops are scattered throughout the village, blending in with the fukugi trees, allowing you to relax in the shade and spend time at a leisurely pace. Admission is free and the spot can be enjoyed year-round.

Highlights of Bise
The fukugi tree-lined paths that run through the village are quiet not only along the main street but also in the side lanes, where calm scenery continues. They are quiet roads where you can catch glimpses of the daily life of local residents, and the angle of the light changes between morning and evening, giving a different impression each time.
Beyond the trees lies Bise Cape Beach. There are colourful tropical fish in the tide pools and you can snorkel here, with Ie Island's Mount Gusuku (Tacchu) standing right in front of you. At low tide you can walk on the reef and play in the rock pools, so it is enjoyable for families with children as well.
