Visiting Churaumi Aquarium by taxi
A round-trip charter from central Naha to Churaumi Aquarium (8-hour course) starts from ¥56,000 (tax included, expressway tolls separate). The Northern Full Course (10 hours), going as far north as Yanbaru beyond Ogimi, starts from ¥70,000. Your local driver will suggest the most efficient route for visiting multiple spots.
We also advise on departure times based on the aquarium's opening hours (8:30–18:30, subject to seasonal change) and crowd levels. Long queues can form during summer holidays and Golden Week — an early morning visit is recommended. On the way back, watch the sun sinking into the sea as you head to Naha — it is guaranteed to be a wonderful day.

Charter fares are time-based at ¥7,000 per hour (¥3,500 per additional 30 minutes booked in advance). Extensions made after departure are ¥4,200 per 30 minutes. Admission, expressway tolls and parking are charged at cost. For charters of 6 hours or more we take a 30% deposit when you book, and the balance is paid on the day. Minimum booking times depend on where you start: from 3 hours in the south and central area, 4 hours in Onna Village and 6 hours in the north, and 8 hours for trips that cross between the south and the north. Where a long transfer is involved, the transfer fare for that stretch is the floor for the price.

How much does a taxi from Naha to Churaumi Aquarium cost?
A round-trip charter takes 8 hours and starts from ¥56,000. That is the price for one Alphard carrying up to five guests, so with five people it works out from ¥11,200 each. Going on to far northern Yanbaru, such as Cape Hedo and ASMUI Spiritual Hikes, makes it a 10-hour northern course from ¥70,000. Expressway tolls, parking and admission are charged separately.
How many hours do I need to book?
Naha to Churaumi Aquarium is about 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours each way, so roughly 4 hours of driving. With two to three hours inside the aquarium, 8 hours is the realistic minimum. Bise Fukugi Tree Road and Sesoko Island fit inside the 8 hours. Book 10 hours if you want to go north of Ogimi into Yanbaru.
Does the driver wait while we are inside the aquarium?
Yes. Waiting time is covered by the charter fare and the driver stays at the car park. If you want a little longer inside, just say so on the day.
Are admission and expressway tolls included?
No. Admission (¥2,180 adults, ¥1,440 high school, ¥710 elementary and junior high), expressway tolls and parking are charged at cost. The fixed airport transfer fare does include expressway tolls.
What time should we leave?
Leaving Naha between 8am and 9am gets you in before the queues build. During the summer holidays and Golden Week there can be a wait to enter, so arriving close to the 8:30 opening is the safest plan.
Is it suitable for families with small children?
Yes. Infant seats, toddler seats and booster seats are provided free of charge. Please tell us the ages of your children when you book.
Can you take us straight from Naha Airport to Churaumi Aquarium?
Yes. We meet you in the arrivals lobby with a name board and head north on the expressway from there. The airport to the aquarium is about 2 hours. Many guests use this to start sightseeing on their arrival day.
Can we leave our suitcases in the car while we sightsee?
Yes. The Alphard luggage space holds four or five suitcases. Leave the bags in the car for the aquarium, then carry on to Bise or Kouri Island, and we drop you at your hotel in the north afterwards. On a departure day we can take you from sightseeing straight to Naha Airport.
How is this different from an ordinary taxi ride?
A one-way taxi ride ends when you reach the destination. On a charter the same car and the same driver wait while you look around, then carry on to the next stop or your hotel. There is no need to arrange another car for the way back.
