SUI TAXI · FAMILY
Okinawa with Kids, Chartered.
Free child seats | Luggage stays in the car | Toyota Alphard
All three child seats are free — infant, toddler and booster. We can carry two at most, and we take this as a request. Please tell us your children's ages when you book.
Your luggage stays in the car, and a folded pushchair can stay with it. The car has Wi-Fi, USB-C and an AC outlet (about the vehicle).
Why a charter suits families
With a small child, the least predictable part of a day in Okinawa is not the driving or the admission fees. It is the mood. Fine in the morning, out of battery by early afternoon. Or the opposite: twice as long as planned at the aquarium. The plan not holding is the normal case.
A charter is built for that. The car waits in the car park at each stop, so you can go back and rest. Your bags and the pushchair stay in it, which makes returning to the car a break in itself. Skipping the place you had lined up next costs nothing extra.
With a rental car, whoever drives never gets a rest. With buses and the monorail, the gap between a child melting down and getting back to the hotel is long. A charter sits between those two.
Age changes where to go
Okinawa splits cleanly into places that delight small children and places that need a bit of age before they land. Castle ruins and war sites stay with a child who can read the panels. Animals and dinosaurs work better while they are small.
Below, the same list split by age. Anywhere appearing in both works at any age.
Where to switch when it rains
Okinawa often turns from clear morning to an afternoon squall. Walking children through that is not realistic. We are happy to look at the forecast on the day and move the plan indoors.
Indoor options include Churaumi Aquarium, DMM Kariyushi Aquarium, Gyokusendo Cave at Okinawa World, AEON Mall Rycom, iias Toyosaki, Ryukyu Glass Village and Murasaki Mura. Rearranging the plan costs nothing extra.
Charter fares for families
| Plan | Fare | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Half day from Naha (3 hours) | from ¥21,000 | Per vehicle, up to 5 people One or two nearby stops such as an aquarium or a mall |
| Unhurried day from Naha (6 hours) | from ¥42,000 | Per vehicle, up to 5 people The length we suggest most often for families |
| Full day from Naha (8 hours) | from ¥56,000 | Per vehicle, up to 5 people The time to allow for a round trip to Churaumi Aquarium |
Charter fares are time-based at ¥7,000 per hour (¥3,500 per additional 30 minutes booked in advance). Extensions made after departure are ¥4,200 per 30 minutes. Admission, expressway tolls and parking are charged at cost. For charters of 6 hours or more we take a 30% deposit when you book, and the balance is paid on the day. Minimum booking times depend on where you start: from 3 hours in the south and central area, 4 hours in Onna Village and 6 hours in the north, and 8 hours for trips that cross between the south and the north. Where a long transfer is involved, the transfer fare for that stretch is the floor for the price.
— On timing: with children, six hours often ends up better than eight. Leaving room to stay somewhere longer beats fitting more in, and it shows in the photos.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have child seats?
We carry infant, toddler and booster seats, all free of charge. We can carry two at most, and we take this as a request rather than a guarantee. Please tell us your children's ages and how many when you book. We may not be able to arrange one on the day.
Can we bring a pushchair?
Yes. The Alphard's luggage space holds four to five suitcases, so a folded pushchair can stay in the car all day. A non-folding one also fits if there are four adults or fewer, by lowering a seat.
What if our child gets tired or upset?
You can go back to the car and rest. On a charter the same car waits in the same car park with your bags still in it. Skip a stop, change the order, or finish early. Just tell the driver on the day.
From what age do children count towards the fare?
The charter is priced per vehicle, so the number of people does not change it. Capacity is five adults, and for children we judge by size. For six or more we arrange two cars.
Can we do a full day with a small child?
We usually suggest around six hours rather than the eight-hour full day, so there is slack in the schedule. Naps happen while the car moves, so we can also line up a longer drive with nap time.
