From 8 hours for a day that runs from Naha to the north. Six hours if you start and finish in the north, and 10 hours for any day that enters Yanbaru.

The difference from half a day is whether the north is reachable
A half-day charter covers Naha and the south, and the centre at a stretch. Churaumi Aquarium is two hours each way from Naha, so the drive alone would eat the whole half day.
Give it a full day and four hours remain on the ground after that round trip. Ninety minutes at the aquarium, then Kouri Island or the Bise fukugi lane, back in Naha by evening. That is the shape most eight-hour days take.
Twenty places worth a whole day
What follows are the places where you want 90 minutes or more. Put another way, if one of them is on your list, take the full day rather than half of one.
The stops you can finish in 30 minutes are on the half-day page. They still work well on a full day, dropped in between the longer visits.
Yanbaru starts at 10 hours
Kunigami, Ogimi and Higashi villages are far from Naha, and the round trip alone runs close to six hours. Eight hours leaves almost nothing for the places themselves. Any day that enters Yanbaru therefore begins at 10 hours, wherever you start from.
Those three villages are listed separately below. ASMUI Spiritual Hikes, the Gesashi mangroves, Ta-taki falls, the Yanbaru forest. None of them repays a rushed visit.
A day in the north (from 8 hours out of Naha)
Four hours of driving there and back, and roughly four left for about three stops. This keeps you around Onna, Nago and Motobu.

How the hours work out
Six hours Available only when you start and finish in the north. It suits guests based in Onna or Nago who spend the day in the north alone. From Naha, six hours means a route in the centre and south.
Eight hours The standard for a day that runs from Naha to the north. Four hours driving, four on the ground, built around Churaumi Aquarium plus two or three more stops.
Ten hours For days that enter Yanbaru. Kunigami, Ogimi and Higashi villages start here.

Charter fares are time-based at ¥7,000 per hour (¥3,500 per additional 30 minutes booked in advance). Extensions made after departure are ¥4,200 per 30 minutes. Admission, expressway tolls and parking are charged at cost. For charters of 6 hours or more we take a 30% deposit when you book, and the balance is paid on the day. Minimum booking times depend on where you start: from 3 hours in the south and central area, 4 hours in Onna Village and 6 hours in the north, and 8 hours for trips that cross between the south and the north. Where a long transfer is involved, the transfer fare for that stretch is the floor for the price.
— It goes better when you do not cram: adding Naha sightseeing to a northern day turns it into a day of driving. One day for the north, another for Naha and the south. If you have two days, that split shows you the most.
Frequently asked questions
How many places can we see in a day?
Three or four on a day that goes north. The round trip from Naha takes four hours, which leaves about four on the ground: 90 minutes at Churaumi Aquarium and two more stops fills the day. Staying in the centre and south means less driving, so four or five is realistic.
Can we do Churaumi Aquarium and Shuri Castle on the same day?
It is possible, but we would not suggest it. The round trip between Naha and Churaumi alone is four hours, and both places deserve 90 minutes. Put them in one day and most of it becomes driving. A day in the north and another for Naha and the south shows you more.
Why does Yanbaru start at 10 hours?

Is there a six-hour full-day plan?
Six hours is available when you start and finish in the north. It suits guests staying in Onna or Nago who spend the day in the north only. Going from Naha to the north crosses between south and north, so that starts at 8 hours. Six hours from Naha means a route in the centre and south.
Can we change the route during the day?
You can. The charter is priced by time, so dropping a stop does not change the fare. Once we are heading north, though, coming back takes a while, so tell us in the morning if a big change is likely.
